Ministers Monday Moment - Finding direction

As I walked down Diorella Drive today I was reminded of yesterday afternoon. I was returning home from down south and turned up Redoubt Road - the quickest way home on a Sunday afternoon. Or so I thought!

More often than not when I'm driving anywhere I ask Google for directions. Not because I don't know how to get where I'm going but because I've found from experience that Google can help me avoid long traffic delays. Yesterday my trip was just a few kilometres and about 10 minutes so I didn't check Google. I knew when I saw the 2 lines traffic stretching all the way down Redoubt Road to the Great South Rd that I had made a mistake. But I was committed by that time. I couldn't change lanes because there were cars to my right. The result? What should have taken 3-4 minutes took 40 s we crawled up Redoubt Rd and crawled down Diorella Drive (Redoubt Rd was closed for Road works between Diorella Drive and Hollyford Ave).

Our life can be like that when we don't look for direction in the right places. When we think we know the answer to our problem, our predicament, our concerns etc. and rely on ourselves our journey to health, happiness and freedom can take much longer and be much harder than it needs to. Thank it needs to be if we go to God in prayer, if we go to God's word - The Bible - to find our direction.

"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." Psalm 119:105
