What better way to experience the 4th theme of Advent but through participating in the joy of baptism. Nasa, Hala, Ethan and Paisi took the step of witnessing to their Christian faith by being baptised yesterday. What a joy it was to be able to baptise 4 young people who have grown up in our church. (I was reminded last night of how young they were when they first came to our church (2 hadn't even started school). What a joy it has been to watch them grow, to watch their faith grow and to have a part to play in that growth.
Baptism is a significant step in the life of a Christian, as those who have been baptised will testify. It's also an important step that every Christian is required to make. It is God's call to each of us to stand up and be counted. To stand up and testify to all the world that you are a Christian and will be a loyal follower of Christ.
If you are a believer, a follower of Jesus Christ, a Christian and you have not been baptised (or have not testified to ("owned") your baptism as a baby through the act of witness that is Confirmation) I encourage you to get in touch with me so that you can explore whether now is the time for you to do so.
Blessings for this final week of advent. May it be a time of peace, love, hope and joy all week and especially on Friday as we celebrate Jesus Christ's birth. And I look forward to seeing you and your family at our Christmas services - Christmas Carols on Christmas Eve Thursday 8pm and Christmas Day at 10am (both at the church).
And if you haven't been down to check out the Christmas Lights at the church I encourage to come down - they are spectacular (best time is after 9pm).
Peter
